Ten Things Every Woman Needs to Know About Her Money

You are single or partnered; a current student, in the workforce, or retired – and you still may not be comfortable with your personal finances. At this interactive lecture, which is intended specifically for women (though all are welcome), we will address three important questions:

  • Why do women need to know about money?
  • Why are so many women reluctant or unwilling to address money issues?
  • What are the ten things every woman needs to know about her money – NOW?

If you’ve been putting off “getting your financial act together,” now is a great time to start!

TIME: 90 minutes

FOR: General audiences

PRESENTER: Gail R. Shapiro, Ed.M., is a Professional Organizer based outside of Boston, working virtually with clients in the US and Canada to bring order to their homes, finances, and writing projects. The author of six non-fiction books, and a novel, To Sisterhood!, set at the beginning of the Second Wave women’s movement, she founded a community women’s center, which pioneered Womankind’s Financial Literacy Project. Mindful Charitable Giving

In these challenging times, many of us feel that we have less to share – but the critical needs in our community and in the world continue to grow.

  • Are you being solicited by numerous charities but are unsure of which – if any – to support?
  • How can you evaluate these requests, decide how much to give, and be sure where your money goes?
  • And how can you comfortably say “no” to those charities you don’t wish to support?

Organizing your charitable giving can help you address these questions. Learn how you can give proactively, not reactively, by creating a Charitable Giving Plan, which will help you define and give focus to your giving goals. Discover how your donations – of any size – can help change a life, solve a problem, or support an institution important to you, both now and year-round.

TIME: 60-75 minutes

FOR: General audiences

PRESENTER: Drawing upon more than four decades of teaching, organizing, and project management skills, Professional Organizer Gail Shapiro, Ed.M, helps clients create and implement a plan for their charitable giving, as well as home and office organizing.

She is the author of seven books, including A Pocketful of Change: Organize Your Small Charitable Gifts for Big Results.

Creating Paper Order

Are your personal legal, and financial records in order? Are you drowning in catalogs, magazines, and other mail? Did you receive an overdue notice for a bill you cannot find? Have you missed replying to an invitation in a timely fashion? Learn a quick and easy system for reducing the height of your paper stacks, and preventing new ones. Bring a one-inch high pile of papers, which will be organized by the time the workshop concludes.
